Landsteinar, the retail solutions vendor announced today that it is hosting “Player of the Year” footballer Morten Wieghorst in Dubai during the Danish League’s winter break. While Landsteinar doesn’t sponsor or own football teams its business interest lies with sports retail giants who use Landsteinar's software solutions. Currently, Landsteinar is rolling out a world-wide implementation for Adidas, which is Morten’s brand of choice, including at the Dubai mega-store in City Centre. “ In Europe, and now in the Middle East leading league clubs, retail outlets have also chosen to implement Landsteinar’s technology solutions in their retail developments. Our retail solutions cover everything from the point-of-sale, through to the back-office billing and shipping operations for companies in the Middle East,” says Ole Milan, general manager, Landsteinar GCC. The 32-year-old former Celtic champion and Scottish Cup midfielder was recently voted Danish player of the year, expressed his satisfaction with the game’s development in the UAE. Wieghorst, a key player in Denmark’s largest football club Brondby, has noted a significant rise in enthusiasm for football during several visits to the Middle East. “On each visit here, I have noticed a greater enthusiasm for the game at all levels, and an increased standard of play across the board. Seeing the FIFA Youth World Cup hosted in the UAE was wonderful and it really demonstrated just how popular the sport has become in the Middle East. The facilities, support and quality of coaching are reaching a world-class level,” says Wieghorst. Wieghorst, a household name in his native Denmark, played for Scottish club Celtic who won the league title and Scottish Cup during his time at the Glasgow-based team. The midfielder has also captained Denmark, and is part of Brondby’s UEFA Cup side. Alpha Landsteinar specialises in the implementation and application of business management software, primarily the Microsoft Business Solution, formerly Navision, suite of business management applications. Customers in the Middle East that have already implemented Landsteinar’s technology include the jewellery giant, Damas, Bahrain Duty Free and Beirut Duty Free.
