BenQ is going to expand the range of projectors it offers in the Middle East market with up to eight new models launched this year. Strong sales growth in 2003 for its existing projector range has driven the decision to expand the range, the company said. Last year it doubled its projector lineup with the launch of six new models, and it said it saw an average quarter-on-quarter growth of 20% throughout 2003. “Ever since BenQ launched its first projector in the Middle East, back in 2001, we have witnessed strong demand,” said Robert Dung, managing director BenQ Middle East. “What we have learned from monitoring the market in 2003 is that we need to introduce even more innovative and strong-performing models to meet the needs of this increasingly sophisticated market,” he added. The company will launch models in its installation, performance, entry, mobile and theatre ranges this year. According to company executives, it is checking market acceptance for launching its two cinema models in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. BenQ has moved its projector models to advanced digital light-processing double date rate (DLP-DDR) technology, which offers a contrast ratio of 2000:1 and less degradation of quality over time.
