The Gigabyte 8IPE1000 Pro2-W comes with an 802.11b compliant PCI wireless expansion card. This allows the motherboard user to wirelessly link with any compatible network. It is capable of a data transfer rate of up to 11Mbps. The motherboard is based on Intel's 865PE chipset, which means that it is built for use with Intel's latest Pentium 4 processors, including the impending Prescott models. Moving to memory, the motherboard features a dual memory controller, which allows you to utilise dual channel memory and exploit fully the 800MHz FSB speed offered by the board. Gigabyte has also included proprietary technology, which allows users overclock the motherboard without the hassle of manual adjustment. The CPU Intelligent Accelerator (CIA) provides moderate overclocking options for selection, where settings are automatically setup by the BIOS. The system is aimed at novice users. For power users Gigabyte recommends using CIA with EasyTune 4. Likewise Gigabyte's Memory Intelligent Booster (MIB) is designed to maximise memory performance and boost memory bandwidth up to 10% by optimising data transmission among the CPU, north bridge chipset and memory. Gigabyte has also released an innovative cooling solution, called 3D Cooler. The cooler comes with an LED light display for those who like to show off and can be installed without the use of tools. The 3D Cooler is comprised of a heat sink and copper base, functioning in both thermal conductivity and transfer, and a central blower that actively dissipates heat. The heat sink structure is composed of high density fins that decrease the overall weight of the heat sink while increasing the surface area. The heat sink also contains embedded heat pipes, which have high heat transfer capabilities (ten times greater than copper) due to a two-phase heat transfer mechanism. The 3D Cooler also comes supplied with a front 3.5” panel and a rear PCI panel for manual fan speed and noise adjustment, which is ideal for tweakers.
