Oracle Corporation, the enterprise software company, today announced that Emirates Industrial Gases (EIG), a leading producer and distributor of industrial, medical, and speciality gases, has selected Linux as the deployment platform for Oracle E-Business Suite. The new solution will centralise and streamline the company’s financial systems, manufacturing processes and distribution activities. The gas provider intends to automate its external and internal systems, increasing employee productivity and overall cost control. The company is also deploying Oracle Collaboration Suite on Linux to enhance collaboration between its employees, suppliers, partners and customers via Oracle Collaboration Suite’s email, voicemail, fax, calendaring and file-sharing capabilities. The entire Oracle environment will run on the Linux platform. The comprehensive automation initiative will see EIG deploy Oracle Process Manufacturing to optimise production of its gas products; Oracle Purchasing, Oracle Order Management, Oracle Inventory, and Oracle Business Intelligence to link supply and demand while responding more efficiently to customer needs; and Oracle Financials to create greater financial visibility across its different lines of business. EIG is one of the leading producers and distributor of industrial medical and specialty gases catering to the oil & gas, hospitals & labs, food and beverages, shipping, steel veriticals. “Our organisation required a comprehensive system to help us streamline and integrate the different processes within Emirates Industrial Gases, from manufacturing to order fulfilment to accounting and internal communications,” says Al-Hareth Al-Khaled, senior vice president, Emirates Industrial Gases. EIG anticipates a number of operational and business benefits by streamlining its gas manufacturing processes. Oracle Process Manufacturing (OPM) will enable the organisation to manufacture its products in compliance with global formulas and standards, while improving quality assurance. “From a technology perspective, running the Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Collaboration Suite on Linux creates a cost-effective, reliable environment with scalability to expand as our gas business grows with good regional support,” adds Al Khaled. Oracle claims its collaboration suite would boost employee ease and efficiency of communication by more than 25% across Emirates Industrial Gases’ main plant and four branch offices. “Manufacturing a vast range of gas products to serve a diversity of industries across the UAE means that Emirates Industrial Gases requires both a highly streamlined and automated manufacturing environment to ensure that its products are of the highest quality,” says Husam Dajani, Oracle’s vice president for the Middle East.
