Aptec Components has entered into an agreement with ALPS Electric Europa GmbH to distribute its electromechanical and electronic components throughout the Middle East, Turkey, Africa and CIS (METACIS) region. Initially, the Aptec Gulf division will focus on distributing floppy disc drives, before expanding into ALPS’ keyboards and mice. “The agreement with ALPS Electric Company adds another top-rated brand to the Aptec Components portfolio, enhancing our ability to deliver innovative solutions to our clients across the region,” says Mario Veljovic, business unit manager, components, Aptec Gulf. “We are delighted to partner with such a prestigious company as ALPS and expect to build a strong loyalty for the ALPS brand among our customers within the next few months,” he adds. By appointing Aptec Components as a distributor for the METACIS region, ALPS hopes to drive its market share up to 40%. According to Frank Steinruecken, head of sales & marketing for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) at ALPS Electric Europa GmbH, this target is realistic, especially when the region’s favorable economic factors and high disposable income are taken into consideration. “The METACIS region will witness significant PC penetration in the coming year. As a result, we foresee a high demand for PC components. Our partnership with ALPS will enable us to deliver top-class products to the region’s growing customer base and to support our products with strong after sales service,” adds Veljovic.
