The three Radisson SAS hotels in Saudi Arabia - in Yanbu, Riyadh and Jeddah - are having facelifts as the Scandinavian chain aims to grow its presence both regionally and around the world. Rezidor SAS Hospitality, parent group of Radisson SAS Hotels and Resorts, which operates 12 hotels in the Middle East, plans to grow to a total of 700 worldwide within the next ten years, including 11 new hotels within the region by 2005. Saudi Arabia will be a key focus for this expansion drive. “As the biggest country in the GCC, Saudi Arabia is a strategic location for our company and we are delighted that the Radisson SAS brand has been so quickly recognised and accepted,” says Maarten van den Nieuwenhuysen, General Manager, Riyadh and District Manager of Radisson SAS Hotels in Saudi Arabia. Total refurbishment of the 167-room Radisson SAS in Yanbu is already completed and the first phase of renovation is in progress at the 317-room hotel in Riyadh and the 292-room Radisson SAS, Jeddah. “Our first priority is the extensive refurbishment of all three Radisson SAS hotels in the Kingdom. The Radisson SAS, Yanbu is now completed, and work is in progress on the Riyadh and Jeddah hotels. We have already established a strong presence in the market and look forward to building on our success,” says van den Nieuwenhuysen.
