The Villa Moda complex in Kuwait City is all set for wireless internet connectivity thanks to the installation of a number of hot spots throughout the leisure facility. “The first phase of the project secures connectivity at a speed of 256 kilobits per second, and covers all the areas, halls and restaurants of the complex,” explained Fahad Al Sharekh, director of business development, the Al Alamiah Group. “The second phase will be studied with several other companies, in order to provide connectivity speeds reaching 2 megabits per second, and will benefit from the complex’s strategic location with a view to covering wider neighbouring areas, such as the ‘future’ freezone, as well as Kuwait University which will enable university students to make use of this achievement.” “This step reinforces Villa Moda’s position as the best commercial complex in the country, as it assimilates technologies of the modern era, serving its customers who wish to connect to the internet, without the need for any kind of cabling whatsoever,” added Al Sharekh. “We are always keen to keep up with the best and most advanced technologies,” explained Sheikh Majed al-Sabah, president, Villa Moda. “This led us to choose Al Alamiah Computer Systems to execute this project.” The research house IDC estimates that the number of hot spots worldwide is expected to reach 118,000 points by 2005.
