Siemens Mobile Networks has chosen LogicaCMG to provide an all-IP Next Generation Messaging architecture, including a Short Messaging Service Centre (SMSC) to Asia Cell Telecommunications Company, one of the three service providers to be awarded a GSM licence in Iraq. Asia Cell will deploy LogicaCMG’s Next Generation Messaging infrastructure to facilitate the delivery of high quality messaging services, starting with SMS. The LogicaCMG Next Generation Messaging architecture will allow Asia Cell to share common management, provisioning and network interfaces across different service bearers to ensure optimum cost efficiency of its messaging infrastructure. Additionally, the architecture allows for capacity growth while ensuring zero downtime for revenue generating messaging services. In the future, the Next Generation Messaging architecture will also allow Asia Cell to seamlessly incorporate other interactive messaging services such as MMS, Instant Messaging and TV voting. According to Bhanu Sud, director & general manager of LogicaCMG Wireless Networks, Middle East & North Africa, the deal will see the vendor establish a firm foothold in the fledgling Iraqi market while allowing Asia Cell to provide world class messaging services. “LogicaCMG has provided us with a cost effective Next Generation Messaging solution and a focused approach to support our ambitions in Iraq. We now will be able to provide the best possible services for our subscribers,” confirms Ziad Shatara, CEO of Asia Cell. ““By working with leading service providers such as LogicaCMG and Siemens Mobile Networks we are confident that we will be able to meet the Coalition Provisional Authority’s challenging deadlines and bring Iraq’s mobile infrastructure online,” he adds.
