All Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts across the region are to have full wireless internet access in all rooms, meeting areas and public places by the end of the year. The move is part of a worldwide drive by Rezidor SAS Hospitality, owners of the Radisson chain, to wirelessly enable all of its luxury hotels. To fulfill its global drive codenamed Easy Connect, Rezidor SAS has teamed up Cisco Systems, for the hardware, and Danish company, Netpoint, which will implement the systems. "In order to keep up with IT developments in the market and to assure we keep on offering our guests an up-to-date service we have partnered with NetPoint to ensure a smooth implementation of full wireless access in all rooms and public areas of all our hotels by the end of 2004,” explains Finn Schulz, vice president, information technology, Rezidor SAS. The Radisson Diplomat in Bahrain was one of the first Radisson hotels in the region to take part in to Easy Connect. Under the initative, the hote upgraded its wireless system to offer 512 K/bits/s connectivity in all rooms. The hotel also boasts internet kiosks in the lobby and in its business class facility, the Royal Club Lounge, as well as wireless internet access in the hotel lobby, three restaurants and poolside terrace. The hotel has implemented a range of charges for the service up to US$18.50 for 24 hour connection. “Fast connections and easy-to-use systems with maximum flexibility are no longer a luxury but a necessity. Therefore, we believe that by including these as standard, they will promote us as being the first choice hotel in Bahrain for leisure and business travellers. ” says Tom Flanagan, hotel operations manager, Radisson Diplomat, Bahrain. “We are constantly looking for ways to increase our IT facilities as we understand our guests needs," he continues.
