Dredging and reclamation work for the Dream Island Development Project in Manama, Bahrain is scheduled to commence by January 15. Construction of the tourist resort complex, which has estimated costs of $130 million, is due to finish in 2007. The developers met on December 15 to discuss the final arrangements and permitting required to commence the dredging and reclamation work needed for the of 16.5 hectare manmade island. The project’s owners and developers are Gulf Star World Development, in conjunction with Strategic Internet Investments (SIII), Star Leisure & Entertainment, Robodh Contracting Establishment of Bahrain and Jzala Investment Group of Saudi Arabia.
