Le Meridien in Kuwait has created a management training programme targeted at nationals to help kickstart employment of Kuwaitis in the hospitality sector. A number of Kuwaiti women have already signed up for the initiative. “National women, especially, can be trained to play a pivotal role in niche areas, such as banqueting departments for weddings, outside catering, or children’s events - in fact, any activities that allow them to be away from the shopfloor,” says Hannes Yaghi, general manager of Le Meridien in Kuwait. “The Kuwaiti economy - and by extension, the size of the workforce - is growing. So, if we are to absorb these increasing numbers, we must invest in customised training to take the needs of both the employer and the jobseeker into account,” he continues.
