Gulf Air has announced a code sharing tie-up with Qantas, the national airline of Australia. Under the deal, Qantas will put its code on GF flights between Singapore and Bahrain and Beirut. This will be extended to cover services to Athens, Cairo and Dubai, once the necessary governmental approvals are in place.

“The expanded relationship between Gulf Air and Qantas will offer customers more choice for travel between Australia and the Middle East and the Levant, with convenient schedules and excellent connections,” says James Hogan, president & chief executive of Gulf Air.

Qantas will benefit from the deal as it will be able to add more destinations to its network. GF, meanwhile, will gain access to Qantas’ extensive distribution network and its established market in Australia and the Antipodes..

“This is in line with our objective to establish strategic partnerships and alliances to complement and add value to Gulf Air’s network, which is fundamental to our customer service ethos,” says Hogan. “We hope to better serve and create more opportunity for the large communities of Lebanese and Arab nationals who live, work and do business in Australia.”
