An entry-level 3D video transitions software, called VideoFX Transitions, has been released by the Canopus Corporation.

VideoFX Transitions is pitched at video enthusiasts looking to add movie-style effects to their home movies and video projects. Canopus claims that VideoFX Transitions provides a collection of fun, creative and high-quality scene changes and the software is compatible with the popular video editing applications, including Canopus Let's EDIT, Adobe Premiere, and Ulead MediaStudio Pro or Ulead VideoStudio.

The VideoFX Transitions software ships with more than 500 ready-to-use transitions, which can be easily tailored to match the video's style, mood or look. The user SmartConfig interface has a variety of options for each transition, including lighting and shadows, the number and size of objects and the type of motion.

One interesting facet of this software is that you can also incorporate digital still images, blending them with the videos to create a personalised effect using your own photos. Another feature, The Transition Organiser, makes choosing the right effect for any scene change easy and even supports the creation of custom effect lists to quickly select your favourites.

The Canopus VideoFX Transitions Swatches are a collection of video scene changes that demonstrate the creative flair you can add to your projects with VideoFX Transitions, which are split into Alpha, 3D Objects and Standard. The 3D Objects category contains over 60 transitions involving high-quality rendered 3D models shaped and animated for wipes and other 3D model specific transition movements. Alpha transitions make use of specially created still images, which are used to create smooth 2D transitions between two video clips. Standard transitions within VideoFX Transition are 22 sub-categories that contain hundreds of different, creative and high-quality 3D transitions to choose from.

You don't need any specific video card for the software to work on your PC and VideoFX Transitions supports Windows 2000 Professional, XP Home and Professional. Canopus claim that it may work on a Windows ME or 98 systems but it is not, and will not be officially supported.
