UAE national Sara Suroor has won the HP scholarship award to complete her Bachelor of Science degree programme at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management . The four year course aims to provide students with a mixture of academic and ‘hands-on’ experience and has been developed in association with the prestigious Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne in Switzerland.

Suroor, a 19 year old national from Sharjah, applied for the HP scholarship as soon as she was accepted on the course. “We receive many applications for the HP sponsorship programme so competition is intense,” said Ron Hilvert, principal of the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management. “We were though very impressed with Sara’s academic background, her tremendous enthusiasm for the course, and her open and engaging manner. When considering the various candidates for the course with HP it was these three elements that won her the scholarship.”

While HP is not exactly the first name to trip off the tongue when discussing hospitality management, a spokesman for the company said it works with a number of regional companies in the sector. “When we learned of the opportunity to sponsor the degree programme we were very pleased to have the opportunity to help the future development of this sector,” said Christoph Schell, general manager HP PSG Middle East.
