Etisalat Academy is playing host to the Middle East Information Technology Security (MEITSEC) conference at the start of October. The academy hopes the six day event will raise awareness to IT security issues within the region.

“The idea of holding an annual conference on IT security issues falls within Etisalat Academy’s mission to proactively promote the information technology sector locally and regionally,” comments Dr. Doaa Fares, general manager, Etisalat Academy.

“While the importance of IT security has become self-evident in the developed world, the Middle East has until now fallen short of understanding the vital need for strong IT security awareness. MEITSEC is meant to fill this gap by raising awareness among businesses and decision makers of the importance of IT security, and the need to develop a legislative framework for it,” added Dr. Doaa.

Speakers will come from a variety of different fields, including IT vendors, academy teaching staff and legal professionals.

The MEITSEC conference will focus on secuirty issues surrounding e-commerce, e-government, e-learning and local legislation.

Etisalat Academy has recently focused on IT security professional training and has teamed up with a number of leading IT security bodies and institutions in the United States and Europe. It is the Middle East representative for the training and pre-exam course of the CISSP and SSCP certifying body (ISC).
