Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) has announced the launch of a new, convertible tablet PC that combines the business mobility features of a notebook with the pen features of a tablet PC. The Lifebook T3010 will be available in the Middle East markets from November 2003, via the Value4You programme, an initiative of FSC to optimize the return on investment for end-users.

The tablet PC comes with a 1.40 GHz Intel Pentium M Centrino processor for wireless communication and Windows XP tablet PC Edition.

Susanne Lewitzki, product marketing manager, Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Fujitsu Siemens said, "The Lifebook T3010 combines the best features of a business notebook and the tablet PC offering the user greater flexibility and functionality."

With a simple flip over, the screen fits atop the keyboard and converts the Lifebook into a tablet PC, providing the user features for creating handwritten notes and drawings, annotation of documents, directly on screen. The active digitizer that enables the pen features is available in both the standard notebook mode and the Tablet mode, allowing the user to benefit from the pen enabled design.

"For enhanced security, it also has a smart card reader function, integrated into the Lifebook T3010 to satisfy the critical business computing needs of users," added Lewitzki.

The new offering from Fujitsu Siemens also has DeskView software, a manageability tool that allows network administrators to enhance system management by providing detailed information about the devices in the network.

Worldwide, Fujitsu Siemens currently offers three models of its LifeBook T3000 series priced at $2,049, $1,949 and $1,799 respectively. Prices for the Middle East have not been confirmed yet.
