Acer expands its Centrino product line for the Middle East

Company increases Centrino technology notebooks portfolio on positive response in the MENA region.

Acer Computers (M.E.) Ltd. today announced it has expanded the range of its Intel Centrino enabled notebooks in Middle East, based on the positive response for mobile technology in the regional market.

Commenting on Acer's product-line expansion, Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer Computer (M.E.) said, "The overall notebook market in the Middle East is growing in excess of 50% year-on-year, which is deeply satisfying, and Acer has recognized that there is increasing interest in notebooks equipped with Centrino technology". The new Centrino line is targeted at entry-level and mid-range consumers.

Recently, Acer has launched the TravelMate 660 and the Travel Mate 290. Both models are based equipped with Centrino mobile technology for the SMB (small-medium business) and SOHO (small office, home office) users. "The TravelMate 660 is an all-round business computer that provides ample power and includes various optical drive options and a four-in-one card reader, plus a 15 inch display. With these features, it is the ideal desktop replacement," added Murthy.

"In the first half of this year, Acer launched a Centrino-based notebook in the Middle East. Since then we have taken our expertise in this area to come up with two new TravelMate models that are reasonably priced and ideal for the needs of SMB and SOHO users," said Murthy.

In July this year, Acer launched a tablet PC with Intel Mobile Centrino technology - the TravelMate C110 for the Middle East market.

Acer Computers ME has been operating since 1992 and currently employees over 100 employee to serve customers and enterprises across 50 countries in the Middle East, Africa and the sub-continent and operates its own facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone.
