Wipro Infotech ties up with Oman's IITC

IITC would leverage on Wipro's experience in infrastructure management, enterprise solutions and IT consulting services for Oman's IT market.

The $902 million Wipro Infotech has partnered with International Information Technology Co (IITC) an Oman, Muscat-based IT solutions company.

Talking to the media at Muscat, Wipro Infotech's president Suresh Vaswani said, "After our business partnership with the Muscat company IITC, we can address the IT needs of customers in Oman."

Wipro Middle East has secured over 50 IT services and software projects in its 2 years of operations. The company also announced its work with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to provide a Capability Maturity Model (CMM) consultancy services.

"Oman and the rest of the Middle East is a critical market for our global expansion strategy. We have had success across the region and we see it as a rapidly growing IT services market," he added.

Wipro officials also visited the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM), a technology park which would be officially inaugurated on September 27. Oman's total IT spending this year is estimated at $120 million -less than 0.6% of the country's GDP.

The 20-year old IITC also has partnerships with Cisco, Marconi, 3com, Foundry Networks, Avaya, Sitara and Alcatel Networks for networking and enterprise solutions.
