Saudi International Petrochemical Company (SIPCHEM), a Saudi joint stock company with a fully paid up capital of US$133 million, has selected mySAP Business Suite to enhance its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) functionality. SIPCHEM successfully went live with financials, human resources, project systems, materials management and plant maintenance modules.

The deployment of mySAP Business Suite will allow SIPCHEM to facilitate real-time, electronic collaboration of employees, suppliers, customers and partners, as well as offer the capability to act across the entire value chain.

SAP Arabia the regional distributor for SAP AG, Germany is facilitating SIPCHEM's deployment of mySAP. Established in 1994 in Jeddah and Dubai, SAP operates in 19 countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) serving over 70 companies - 25% of which belong to the oil and gas sector.

"SIPCHEM's goal is to grow into a major petrochemical manufacturer within ten years by setting up petrochemical, chemical and other hydrocarbon industries using local resources, infrastructure and expertise. Such an ambition needs to be powered by an efficient and adaptable infrastructure for enabling our core and support business processes," said Ahmed Al Ohali, president of SIPCHEM.

"We are proud to be associated with the ERP empowerment (by SAP) at SIPCHEM, a giant corporation in the making," said Essam Enany, president of SAP Arabia. "mySAP Business Suite is a highly flexible and adaptable Business that requires minimum intervention and a small team to support it," he added.

"With mySAP Business Suite, SIPCHEM's information will flow seamlessly throughout the enterprise value-chain from the buy side to the sell side," said Enany.

Phase 2 of the implementation is scheduled to start in September 2004. Implementation of the sales and distribution, production planning, environment, health and safety, and quality management modules is to be completed in Q1 2005.
