IT security solutions provider, ComGuard, will be attending Gitex through Dubai Internet City's (DIC) Community Zone. Once there, the vendor will spend the five days of the show raising brand awareness and generating interest in its range of solutions.

"ComGuard's participation last year under the DIC umbrella generated heightened interest in our company, considerably increasing our brand awareness and presenting us with several significant business leads," says Herbert Kamensky, managing director of ComGuard.

"This has encouraged us to take it a step further this year and expand our presence significantly so that we may present our solutions and product portfolio in a much more comprehensive way to Gitex Dubai visitors," he adds.

The presence of ComGuard and other security vendors at the show is particularly pertinent as internet and e-mail borne viruses, such as Sobig.F, have regularly spread through the online world like wildfire during 2003.

Despite the constant warning of the media, vendors and security associations, viruses continue to infect users' PCs. This indicates that they still have much to learn when it comes to preventing infection.

"It is beyond me why people are not downloading patches and fixes," says Justin Doo, managing director of Trend Micro Middle East, Africa & Benelux countries. "Maybe people don't see these things [viruses] as a threat," he adds.
