Application infrastructure software company, BEA Systems, is stepping up its presence at this year's show. In addition to a bigger stand, the vendor has added a common presentation area and a VIP meeting room.

Once there, visitors will be able to hear about BEA's enhanced 24x7 local support, its education services centre based in DIC and its latest product, WebLogic 8.1.

Touted by the vendor as the 'first-ever truly integrated application platform in the industry,' the WebLogic Platform 8.1 brings together BEA's key products: WebLogic Workshop, WebLogic Integration, WebLogic Server and WebLogic Portal. Combined, BEA claims these products will dramatically improve business integration, eliminate unnecessary complexity in software systems and allow users to easily unify legacy infrastructure with new technology.

"The WebLogic Platform 8.1 is a breakthrough product as business can converge development and integration for the first time ever," says Diyaa Zebian, regional manager, Middle East & Egypt, eSolutions BEA.

"Companies that have already invested heavily are often caught with redundant software after the completion of projects. The Weblogic Platform is the first product that can extract value from legacy systems, and integrate it with present systems, allowing companies to lower costs and boost returns," he adds.

BEA also believes that its latest application platform will change the way application integration is carried out, as users will be able to work through a single console rather than having to deal with different tools.

"We have changed the traditional approach to application integration and business process management with this middleware solution because, unlike other offerings, it manages integration at all levels from one console," says Zebian. "This makes it easy for a business to manage its entire work, from development to integration all the way up to workflow management and the final delivery. Moreover, it requires only one skill set," he adds.

BEA's products are based on an advanced software architecture developed by BEA on J2EE, XML and emerging web services standards. The vendor claims its architecture offers faster time to value by converging application development and application integration into a simplified and extensible application infrastructure platform.

As such, BEA believes the product will find a ready market in industries that need to add applications to their existing infrastructures quickly, such as the financial services sector.
"As an increasing number of businesses in the Middle East migrate to information technology driven processes, the Weblogic 8.1 series platform will prove to be an integral tool to facilitate standardisation of an enterprise's IT infrastructure," says Zebian.
