It's been an eventful year for JD Edwards, what with the acquisition of Dalma Computer Systems and the take over by rival enterprise resource planning (ERP) vendor, PeopleSoft.

However, the merger will take a backseat at Gitex as JD Edwards' local operation focuses on the upgraded modules of JDE 5.

Due to an increasingly mature ERP market in the region, the vendor is beginning to focus on its relationship management and supply chain management (SCM) applications.
According to Tim Caulkett, regional director of JD Edwards, organisations are starting to invest in more specialised software. "There is a growing demand for relationship management and supply chain management (SCM) software. Release 9 of our software tackles these areas," he adds.

JD Edwards is also planning to use Gitex as a springboard into untapped areas of the local market. "We're still building our base and looking to expand our operations," says Cualkett.
