AsusTek is planning to break into Saudi Arabia, Egypt and other emerging markets such as Iran and Syria, with its recently introduced range of network and server products.

The addition of servers and switches to the product line means a dramatic upgrade in the service requirements of local partners.

"The servers demand a much larger service requirement - customers in this space cannot accept delay," comments Alka'r.

"We are learning from our operations in the US and Europe and trying to apply a similar channel module," he adds.

Despite the dominant position of the brand name server players, Alka'r is confident that Asus machines can win accounts in the SME companies.
