LG is gearing up to enter the ultra-competitive PC hardware market. The vendor's desktop and notebook range will be be making their market debut with local partner, PC International.

The reseller will be 'piloting' the products in the local market. Although LG isn't usually associated with the PC market, it has maintained an OEM business for some time. "This is the first year that we will be marketing our LG machines under their own brands," says Atul Verma, marketing manager, LG Electronics Gulf LZE.

LG is confident it will be able to steal market share from established hardware players. "Our partners will be pushing our desktop and notebook range for us," says Michael Kim, IT products manager, LG Electronics Gulf LZE. "We believe that our partners can make a dent in the local market. This is our test market," he adds.
