Consulting firm Hyperlink, is showcasing its range of Oracle enterprise resource planning (ERP) skills at this year's show. The organisation will have a team of experts on hand to answer questions and discuss the finer points of ERP implementations and its RDC programme.

Unveiled last year at Gitex, the RDC programme takes a number of graduates from Lebanese universities and provides them with crash-course training and real project experience.

"We took the first graduates on the RDC scheme in January of this year. We're now about to take another 18 students," says Hani Harik, president of Emirates Computers and Hyperlink.

The graduate training programme lasts for two and a half years, during which the trainees receive a wage, and have all their tuition paid for by Hyperlink. At the end of the two years the trainees have a choice of joining up full time, or going out into the market to find an alternative employer. "The programme squeezes in ten years of experience into just two and a half years," says Harik.

Hyperlink's training programme goes some way to solving the age old skills problem in the region. Historically, projects have suffered from the transitional nature of the IT workforce. Although there are greater numbers of experience of people working in the Middle East, the RDC programme helps to build a bond between the trainee and the region.
