Tech Data has joined forces with four of the world's top vendors to produce the Tech Data Server Guide, for the regional assembly market.

Intel, Western Digital, Kingston Technology and Maxtor have all contributed to the making of the Tech Data Server Guide, which offers readers a wide range of product information ranging from the most powerful and manageable servers to entry-level server solutions.

"A recent trend in the enterprise market for hardware has shown a leaning towards custom-built servers, which are at a far lower cost than branded servers. This guide is designed to deliver a step-by-step approach to server building, something that the technology reseller channel urgently need to meet rising demand," said Dhruv Srivastava, PC components business unit manager at Tech Data.

"The guide makes a far more convenient option to browsing the websites of different vendors, checking with different sources for procurement or other numerous tedious methods for determining compatibility," he added.

Since the beginning of the year, Tech Data has launched a number of guides for the technology reseller channel in the region, including the HP Peripherals and Supplies Guide, Licensing Guide (with Microsoft, CA, Novell, SCO, Veritas, Oracle and Symantec) and Cisco Security Guide. Over 15,000 resellers have now been reached through these initiatives, and the returns have been substantial.

Maan Ahmadie, regional channel manager for Intel, said the contribution these guides were making to the channel were an invaluable service. "In the Middle East market, one of the most important aspects to consider is education. As one of the leaders in IT distribution Tech Data has significantly contributed to the knowledge of the channel, and consequently its growth."
