Egypt-based Unilever Mashreq is equipping its roaming sales force with HP’s iPAQ h3900 Pocket PCs. The mobile sales team will download information on promotions and pricing at the start of each working day.

During the day, the sales team will use the iPAQs to record sales and issue invoices using mobile printers. At the end of the day, all the sales people will synchronise with the Unilever mainframe over the network to track daily sales and update distribution stock levels.

“The new data management system not only revolutionises the way that we approach the distribution of our products, but also gives us a more accurate, up-to-date overview of what distributors and consumers need,” says Abdel Moneim Mohsen, business system manager, Unilever Mashreq Egypt.

“The iPAQ is the ideal component for this business solution, affording us security, functionality and expandability,” he adds.

The iPAQ Pocket PC h3950 comes with a 64 Mbytes SDRAM with a 32 Mbytes Flash ROM. The sturdy design and robust applications make it ideal for corporate buyers such as Unilever, who are looking to expand their data management solutions so as to enrich relationships with customers.
