The UAE's monopoly telcommunications operator Etisalat will use a 4 XT-based live on-air editing server aka AirEdit-XT from EVS for its E-Vision service.

E-vision, a wholly owned subsidiary of Etisalat, provides digital cable television and multimedia services to the residents of the UAE. It transmits programmes on hybrid fibre and coaxial cable with enhanced picture quality 24 hours without any degradation or interruption of service.

Now, with the help of the AirEdit-XT, which has four channels, a shrewd control panel and integrated software, commercial insertions, content control and video delay will become easy.

The functionality is pretty simple. An input channel on the AirEdit-XT records the live feed in permanent loop model. The record process perpetually overwrites the oldest images on disk. At the same time, another channel accesses the recorded content randomly for delayed playback.

Using the intuitive control panel, an operator then swiftly defines the clips to be removed, thereby, reducing the delay time. The user can, with the same ease, insert pre-recorded material which, in turn, effectively increases the delay. The delay time is maintained constant when replacing commercials of pre-defined durations.
