Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) have teamed up to co-promote the emirate as exhibition and conference destination. The agreement will kick off with an international broadcast strategy to increase interest in the forthcoming Gitex exhibition.

“[Although] people in the region are aware of the amazing technological developments taking place in Dubai and the UAE and the sound investment opportunities on offer, we need to persistently raise awareness levels worldwide through highlighting events such as Gitex,” says DTCM director general, Khalid bin Sulayem.

Although exact details on the broadcast strategy remain vague, it will exploit various electronic news channels.

“This broadcast management project will utilise all current electronic news gathering and management techniques and includes three main areas of expertise that are integrally linked including tailored content production, dedicated one-on-one broadcast media relations in each market as well as delivery of content via satellite and digitally online before, during and after the event,” says DWTC director general Mubarak bin Fahad.

DWTC and DTCM began discussions earlier this year on the potential of combining forces to promote the local MICE business. A wide range of industries use Dubai as a platform to access Middle East markets and either sell directly to consumers, or find potential agents and distributors.

From cars to cosmetics, boats to baby care products, freight to fashion to furniture, education to electronics, engineering and much more, a variety of trade fairs provide a showcase for manufacturers from around the world.
