DXB reports growth in Q3

Dubai International has reported growth in its passenger numbers for the third quarter of the year. Passenger movement has gone up to 13.2 million this year compared to 11.8 million in 2002.

Dubai International has reported growth in its passenger numbers for the third quarter of the year. Passenger movement has gone up to 13.2 million this year compared to 11.8 million in 2002, which equals 11.8% growth. Cargo movements are also up, hitting 679,445 tonnes compared to 548,269 tonnes last year, a 24% rise. Aircraft movement is also up, registering 122,896 movements in 2003 compared to 110,090 in Q302, growth of 11.6%.

January and February showed the highest increase in passenger movement with a growth of 25.9 % and 19.8 % respectively. The most successful months for Dubai Cargo Village were March and April with 32.0% and 28.6% growth respectively.

Executive Flight Services (EFS) recorded the most impressive growth, up 110% in the month of September alone. It handled 310 movements in September 2003 compared to 148 last year.

The airport predicts that overall passenger movements will hit 18 million this year, with 40 million still the target for 2010.
