M÷venpick expands in the Middle East

M÷venpick Hotel & Resorts is opening its third property in Saudi Arabia in Al Khobar.

M÷venpick Hotels & Resorts will open a new property in Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia in 2005. This will be the hotel chain's third property in the Kingdom after its current properties in Jeddah and Madinah.

The new hotel, located ten minutes from Damman First Industrial City, will feature 101 luxury rooms and eight deluxe villas besides conferences and banqueting facilities capable of hosting up to 700 guests.

The chain signed a management agreement with Mansour Bin Jumah trading and contracting establishment, the owning company of the hotel this week. "We decided to award the management contract to M÷venpick Hotels & Resorts because of their reputation in the Middle East and their high service standards. We are convinced that we have found a strong international partner," said Sheikh Bin Jumah, chairman of Mansour Bin Jumah.

Khobar is a relatively new city, and has an important strategic position in the Doha-Bahrain-Al Khobar industrial triangle," said Andreas Mattmnller, senior vice president, Middle East at M÷venpick Hotels & Resorts.

Separately, the chain has also signed a signed a management agreement for a 330 room hotel, its first property in Sana'a, Yemen to open in September 2004.

The chain currently manages 48 hotels in 14 countries; ten new projects are under development or in the process of construction.
