Qualstar Corporation, a manufacturer of automated tape solutions for backup and archival storage, has launched its next generation of rack mount automated tape libraries featuring LTO technology.

The RLS-8236 is Qualstar's latest model and will be distributed in the Middle East by PRO TECHnology. "The new LTO Generation 2 tape drive is the ideal choice for enterprise class data protection needs, particularly where the back up window is shrinking and critical data needs to be protected," said Shaban Al-Ahmad, technical director of PRO TECHnology.

The RLS-8236 is designed to meet the most intensive data storage needs of mid size firms, with one or two LTO Generation 1 or LTO Generation 2 tape drives. It also holds up to 36 tapes in a compact 5U-high design. The fast data transfer rate of up to 432 gigabytes an hour, or one terabyte in less than two and half hours, enables users to rapidly backup and restore corporate-critical information.

"Qualstar's libraries and the LTO tape drives have repeatedly proven their worth in the marketplace," added Bob Covey, Qualstar's vice president of marketing.
