Internet Security Systems (ISS) has expanded its Proventia product family with the release of an all-in-one protection appliance range. The solutions negate the need for stand alone products, such as firewalls, anti-spam, content filtering and antivirus, as they are capable of carrying out a number of security functions with a single engine.

According to ISS, the Proventia M Series will automatically rebuff viruses, unauthorised access, network attacks, malicious code, hacker exploits and hybrid threats like SQL Slammer, Code Red and MS Blaster.

"Today marks the end of an era in stand alone security technologies. Internet Security Systems' Proventia products will revolutionise information security, delivering complete, cost-effective protection and simplicity," claims Tom Noonan, chairman, president and CEO of Internet Security Systems.

"With Proventia products in place, one device protects against the full spectrum of threats so enterprises no longer have to acquire, test, certify, install, then manage and update a myriad of security devices. Instead of struggling to meet the minimum requirements for security, Proventia sets you apart from the rest with the best protection at a lower cost," he adds.

The initial Proventia product, the M50, will be released next month and provide antivirus, intrusion detection and protection (IDS/IPS), firewall and virtual private network (VPN) functionalities through a single engine and under one management system.

Future releases will expand the capabilities of the range to include application protection, anti-spam and content filtering. Furthermore, these solutions will extend the protection beyond the network and gateway to include servers, PCs and laptops.

ISS says higher performance, reduced ownership costs, improved flexibility and up-to-date protection are among the benefits users can reap from deploying its Proventia M Series products.
