Acorp Electronics Corporation hopes that ShowShifter will help it to be a show stealer at this year's Gitex. Acorp, a manufacturer of motherboards and other PC components, is bundling ShowShifter software with its motherboards, mini-barebone systems, tuner cards and graphics cards. The application allows users to watch, record and time-shift footage when watching TV on a PC.

The award-winning home entertainment software, from Home Media Networks, also allows PC users to listen to CDs and mp3 music files through one interface. ShowShifter can be manipulated via remote control and its Farview interface lets the consumer use the product from anywhere in the room, as with conventional home entertainment products.

Acorp will also ship the latest version of ShowShifter with its forthcoming Media Centre PCs. These machines, complete with specifically designed Microsoft operating system, are an attempt to create a PC that can act as a digital entertainment hub for the home. A1-11
