Fargo Electronics and ImageWare Systems have entered into an agreement that will establish Fargo as a master distributor of ImageWare's off-the-shelf photo ID badge design and management software.

ImageWare develops software solutions for the creation of secure photo IDs and credentials that are used for driving licenses, passports, IDs, secure access control and more.

Fargo creates innovative printing systems that personalise plastic identification cards, complete with digital images and text, lamination and electronically encoded information.

ImageWare's EPI Suite products will be sold with Fargo's professional and persona series card printer/encoders.

Fargo printer/encoders will remain on an open architecture platform for users who want to use their own or previously purchased software.

ImageWare's identification software will also retain its open architecture and continue to work with a variety of printers, cameras and other devices.

ImageWare Systems is a software solutions provider for digital imaging, biometrics, law enforcement and secure credentials. Through its ID product line, ImageWare applies its core technology to create secure identification systems for airports, universities, government agencies and many private businesses.

Fargo develops technologies for desktop plastic card personalisation systems. Based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Fargo is the only manufacturer to offer three distinct technologies in printing systems: high definition printing (reverse image); traditional direct-to-card printing (dye-sublimation); and cardJet printing technology (inkjet).

This provides complete customisation of plastic identification cards with digital images and text, lamination and electronically encoded information.

More than 70,000 Fargo systems have been sold in the US and in over 80 other countries. In July Fargo reported net income for the second quarter, 2003, of US$1,766,000.
