Acer Computers, Middle East (Acer ME) today announced its notebook sales have increased by 85% year-on-year in Kuwait. Acer ME, attributes the significant growth in sales of Acer notebooks to competitive pricing, expansion of the company's reseller network and the expanded notebook product line.

"The overall notebook market in the Middle East is growing in excess of about 50% year-on-year, which is deeply satisfying, but Acer's growth in Kuwait's notebook segment has exceeded our expectations. So far, we have recorded 85% growth on 2002," says Krishna Murthy, general manager, Acer ME.

"By pushing ahead and achieving such high levels of growth in the notebook segment, we are increasing our market share in Kuwait and capitalising on the Gulf state's position as one of the leading Middle East technology markets. Acer plans to continue its growth in Kuwait," adds Sunil Kumar, country sales manager Kuwait, Acer ME.

Part of Acer's strategy to enhance its presence in Kuwait's notebook market has included expanding its reseller network. Kuwait is one of the 50 countries in the Middle East, Africa and the sub-continent (MENA), Acer ME operates in since 1992.

"We have been dedicated to growing our reseller channel through the appointment of respected local resellers. With the recent appointment of new resellers throughout the country, we have increased our accessibility to consumers and ensured high standards of customer service," adds Kumar.

The Taiwanese vendor currently offers more than ten notebook models in Kuwait. Of the different notebooks available in the Kuwait, strong sales results have been recorded for Acer's notebook PC, the TravelMate 800, which was launched in March this year. In future, Acer plans to introduce more Centrino-based laptops and tablet PCs to Kuwait.

"Based on the interest that has already been shown on our wide range of models in Kuwait, we expect that the expansion of our product portfolio will further boost our success in the country," adds Kumar.
