Euromicron, the fibre-optic components manufacturer and systems integrator, is participating at Gitex for the first time this year in a bid to establish its products in the Middle Eastern market.

The Frankfurt-based vendor is being represented within the German pavilion and is looking to exploit trade ties between the UAE and its home country.

"We have [involvement] with some Middle Eastern projects and we are trying to establish ourselves here. We have [started] projects with the Gulf Library and a few hotels and office buildings around Abu Dhabi," explains Rolf Muskatewitz, the vendor's director for network products and systems.

With deployment of fibre optic technology in buildings and urban areas in the region increasing, Euromicron is aiming to break into the market for the provision of consultation, design and installation of networks. The hospitality sector is among the main sectors it is targeting.

Products being displayed at Euromicron's stand include the vendor's fibre optic connectors and cables, splice boxes and tools. The vendor is also showcasing its patch, jumper and breakout cables, as well as network cabinets.

Euromicron recently launched a bid to boost exports and cultivate international markets, and says Dubai will be its main focus in the UAE.

The vendor has also signed deals recently with a range of international clients, including Daimler, Daimler Chrysler as well as German banks and finance companies. H8-2
