HP Services teams up with Microsoft

HP’s services organisation has unveiled six ‘solutions and services’ based on Microsoft's Office System. The product offerings will help customers streamline their business and improve collaboration.

HP’s services organisation has unveiled six ‘solutions and services’ based on Microsoft's Office System. According to the hardware giant, the product offerings will help customers streamline their business and improve collaboration.

“Our breadth and depth of services and solutions built on Microsoft technology will enable customers to adapt and respond to change quickly, with improved collaboration and decision-making,” comments Mike Smith, general manager for HP Services Middle East.

“HP is the brand of choice to deliver Microsoft Office System-based information worker productivity solutions to global enterprises and small- and medium-size businesses,” he adds.

Greater integration between the front office/desktop functionality of Microsoft’s productivity software and its back office servers, such as Exchange and SharePoint is being promoted as one of the ‘killer’ reasons to upgrade.

HP’s intends to leverage its existing expertise on the .Net platform, Office, SharePoint 2003, Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft Windows Server 2003 to help local organisations make the most of Office System 2003.

HP has 1500 consultants worldwide, with expertise in Office System and web services.

The range of solutions on offer includes, a Correspondence and Case Management document management system, Sales and Marketing Collateral Management Solution, which is designed to improve collaboration and automated content creation.

HP’s service operation is also offering a Collaboration Portal that integrates with SharePoint to create corporate workplace portals.

HP has packaged its ProLiant server with Microsoft’s Windows Small Business Server 2003 to offer greater intranet, remote access and collaboration to the region’s small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

The vendor has also introduced its Review Service to help Exchange 2003 customers to tune their implementation.

HP’s final service package hopes to kick-start the rollout of mobile services in the region. The Mobility Pilot Deployment Service provides businesses with a ‘low risk’ test project, in an effort to illustrate the power of mobile computing, based on Exchange 2003.
