Pioneer Gulf is to outsource its supply chain and distribution operations to NYK Logistics, the freight forwarding and distribution division of Nippon Yusen Kaisha of Japan. NYK will provide Pioneer with a ready-made logistics infrastructure, meeting the company’s needs for the timely supply of goods in large surges of volume and demand.

Under the terms of the contract, NYK will handle regional stockholding, re-distribution to the expanding Middle East markets, as well as value added services such as bar coding, re-packaging and promotional activities.

“Customer understanding and servicing are the centre of NYK Logistics’ business strategy,” says Taizo Akabane, chairman, NYK Logistics Middle East, “We always go the extra mile to understand our customers’ supply chain needs, deliver on our promises and ensure complete customer satisfaction.”

The deal is the first major contract secured by NYK since it began operations in the region in March 2003. It falls perfectly in line with NYKL’s strategy of providing a comprehensive range of logistics services, catering to the unique supply chain needs of multinational Japanese companies in the consumer electronics and automotive spare parts industries in the UAE.

“The signing of a major contract like PGF is proof of NYKL’s increasing significance in the regional logistics industry, “ says Yoshiyuki Konuma, director of NLME. “We are confident that we will meet and exceed the high expectations set for us and we look forward to a prosperous relationship with our new clients.”
