His Excellency Major General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, chancellor of e-TQM College, launched the Virtual Executive Club (VEC), the first online club for executives. His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, demonstrated his support for the project by becoming the first member of the club.

"The launch of VEC reaffirms Sheikh Maktoum's vision by offering executives and managers in the Arab world a virtual meeting place to update their knowledge and exchange their expertise," says His Excellency Major General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim.

"VEC has been created to develop a trans-borders club for executives and managers in the Arab world and all over the globe. The club will support executives by utilizing recent developments in tactical and strategic management thinking to improve members' performance in their organisations in both the public and private sector," adds Major General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim.

The new club is an initiative of e-TQM College, the 14-month old, Dubai-based institution that offers online courses in Total Quality Management (TQM) in the Middle East.

"There are several clubs for directors and CEOs but there are no such forums for executives. e-TQM College's VEC is aimed at filling this void by creating an online platform that addresses the issues of critical importance to executives, and providing them with access to online consultancy and interaction with experts," says Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, director, e-TQM College.

"We aim to offer executives in the Arab world a platform for personal development and an opportunity to network, to foster exchange of ideas and knowledge. The easy interaction between members and experts from all over the world, will make VEC an unmatched resource for Arab executive managers for honing their skills," adds Dr. Al Awar.

Membership of VEC is open to management executives who make strategic and tactical decisions in their organizations, both from the private as well as the public sectors.

VEC is currently offering Quality Hub, an online TQM encyclopedia and e-quality digest, an online management newsletter, a virtual advisory support to address specific problems and business issues, besides executive membership schemes, virtual seminars and mentoring services.
