Aviation law seminar in Dubai

Dubai is to host an aviation law seminar next month. The 13-14 December event will look at a wide range of legal issues effecting the aviation sector.

Dubai is to host an aviation law seminar next month, which is organised by the Department of Civil Aviation and the Asia – Pacific Alumni Association of the Institute of Air and Space Law, McGill University, Canada. The 13-14 December event will look at a wide range of legal issues effecting the aviation sector.

“Dubai has been in the forefront in all areas of aviation. This is the first seminar solely focused on aviation and space law to be held in the Middle East, and this amply shows the importance we give to educating and exposing our personnel to the emerging developments. It is our aim to ensure that the aviation industry in Dubai is abreast with the rest of the world,” says Mohamed Ahli, director of operations, Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai.

The seminar will be moderated by Prof. Paul S. Dempsey, director of the Institute of Air & Space Law, McGill University, Canada, (IASL). The speakers include Prof. Michael Milde, former director of the IASL/Legal Bureau of the ICAO; Dr. Ludwig Weber, the current director of the ICAO Legal Bureau; Prof. Peter Haanappel, professor of law, Leiden University, The Netherlands; Dr. Nandasiri Jasentuliyana, president, International Institute of Space Law and former director, United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs; Ambassador Saeed Al Ghamdi, representative of Saudi Arabia in the Council of ICAO, among others.
