Hard-disk drive maker Western Digital is taking advantage of its Dubai distribution centre to market its products to the PC and storage markets in Pakistan and Turkey.

According to Raug Baig, senior regional sales manager, Middle East Africa and Central Asia, the company is focusing on reseller channel development and expansion of customer services. Baig is now responsible for the company's development in the Middle East, Africa, Turkey and Pakistan.

"As an innovative and forward thinking organization, Western Digital has been monitoring activities in Turkey and Pakistan. These countries show promise for strong growth," said Baig. "The new territory represents huge potential and we plan to capture our fair share of the market - just as we have achieved in the Middle East."

To respond quickly to the growing market's needs, Western Digital products are being delivered to distributors in Turkey and Pakistan from the company's new distribution centre in Dubai, the only such facility operated by a hard disk drive manufacturer in the region.

"The geographic and strategic proximity of WD's Dubai-based facility to Turkey and Pakistan has allowed us to cut our delivery time to distributors significantly," Baig added. "Customers are able to get their products in about one quarter of the time that it used to take. By speeding up the supply chain, Western Digital is better serving customers and enabling more extensive, flexible distribution of its products across the region."
