Global Education Management Systems (GEMS) has purchased a number of advanced laptops, Tablet PCs and PDAs from Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) as part of its drive to upgrade the IT infrastructure of its various schools.

The kit will be used to enhance the use of IT at the classroom level at schools throughout the UAE, including Jumeirah Primary School and Modern High School in Dubai, and allow students to get to grips with technology from an early age.

"The latest deal with FSC to supply and install some of its sophisticated PCs, laptops, Tablet PCs and PDA's represents yet another progressive step towards the development of wireless technology in our schools," says Sidney D'Rosario, assistant vice president of ICT at GEMS.

"This will help our students to meet the challenges of the future," he adds.

The products supplied by FSC to GEMS include Lifebook C1020, the Stylistic ST4120 Tablet PC and the Pocket Loox 600 GB PDA. According to the vendor, the kit will provide both GEMS' students and teachers with more versatility, effectiveness and convenience.

"We are positive the new PCs, laptops and PDAs will power GEMS to transfer the benefits of IT to the student community, while giving the students a hands on experience with products that are at the cutting edge of technology," says Colin Britto, sales manager for large enterprises in the Gulf Region at FSC.
