PeopleSoft, Middle East today announced the availability of PeopleSoft User Productivity Kit (UPK), a content and development tool that enables organisations to create customisable content for documentation, performance support, and classroom and web-based training for its regional customers.

According to the ERP vendor, the UPK is targeted at customers in the Gulf, Levant, and North Africa. It would include a synchronised platform to produce, deploy, and publish training content in a variety of formats within a single authoring session, helping customers to accelerate user adoption.

For example, while an individual is executing a transaction within a business process, the tool simultaneously records each action. Once a process is complete, users can publish the content into multiple deliverables, such as user or instructor-led training documentation, web-based training tools, and help screens.

"Acceptance and adoption by end-users is critical to realizing the value and payback of enterprise software applications. Vendors that enable quick, customizable, and global training will help customers maximize the effectiveness of end-user education and ultimately, the application itself," says Cushing Anderson, IDC. "

Developed by instructional design experts, the solution includes training for standardised business processes that can be used 'out of the box' or easily modified to meet customer requirements.

In addition, the UPK provides organisations with a single-source repository for end-user training needs, which would enable companies to update and distribute training content faster based on application deployment schedules or changes in business processes.

"Given the increasing number of enterprise resource planning (ERP) projects being initiated in the Middle East by businesses of all sizes, rapid user adoption of new applications can make or break an organisation's implementation," says Tim Caulkett, regional director, PeopleSoft Middle East.

"The PeopleSoft UPK will deliver end-user training quickly and cost-effectively - results that are critical to the overall success of ERP initiatives. The faster end-users are comfortable and competent with the software, the sooner regional organizations can realize a tangible return on their investment," adds Caulkett.
