January will see some of the world's leading technical analysts, and CIO's come to Dubai to address the 9th annual Dubtech Summit with this year's summit focusing on how to boost the region's progression to cutting edge technology.

Convening at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai UAE on January 13-14 2004, the Dubtech summit organised by Datamatix will discuss the company's recent reports into why Middle Eastern organisations are slow in deploying cutting edge IT solutions when compared to European and US counterparts.

In its 9th year Dubtech has become an annual destination for the region's government & private sector IT decision makers to convene and discuss up-to-date information on the latest worldwide technological and management advances.

Set to speak at the conference Dr Ernest Becher, former director, ITU Geneva says the benefit of the Dubtech summit is the greater understanding it brings to organisations throughout the region in creating new operational efficiences

"With technology, however, predicting the future course of technology is no easy feat. The problem often lies in a simple reality: most practicing managers of today do not yet understand the technologies of tomorrow. And if they do not understand them yet, it can be very difficult for them to use these technologies to the benefit of their organization in the future. Peer to peer networking and knowledge sharing from events such as the Dubtech summit is on possible way to empower today's IT professionals," says Dr Becher.

Subjects up for discussion at the event include the changing role of the (IT) manager, Linux & Open Source Systems, Data Federation, Virtualisation, E-government projects, Six Sigma and Business Process Management, Outsourcing and many other relevant topics on IT.

The organisers are promoting the two-day summit - which will bring together more than 150 IT professionals - as 'providing excellent opportunities for one-to-one business networking' in a professional environment.
