Kuwait Television has announced plans to deploy more Leitch VelocityQ multi-stream non-linear editing systems and Velocity(r) dual-stream non-linear editing system at its news department. The news broadcaster already uses a Leitch Velocity system to handle all its news headlining and news promo programmes.

"We have used a Leitch Velocity system for the past three years, and have found it fast and easy to use for work in the news environment," explains Nader Khorshid, a graphic designer at the Kuwait TV news department.

The new Leitch systems provide all news editors and graphic designers simultaneous access to the required media for collaboration on news stories.

"After extensive evaluation we found that the Leitch VelocityQ was the only system to offer true real-time operation, simultaneously providing four streams of uncompressed video and six graphics layers, all of which are critical for the demands of a modern news operation," says Ahmad Al-Meshal, head of the editing facilities at Kuwait Television news department.

The complete installation includes the Leitch VelocityQ systems with SDI option and standard data sharing network. Each system is connected to 400GB RAID system for video storage.

VelocityQ combines flexible and intuitive software with the
Quattrus(tm) multi-stream real-time hardware, forming a tightly integrated, advanced multi-layer NLE solution that delivers an exceptional combination of real-time power, quality and affordability. Features include real-time, full-quality playback of four streams of video, up to six graphics streams and four channels of 3D DVE.
