RAM Metal Industries is looking to build on its market share and garner a greater portion of the growing opportunities in the regional construction industry. The company, which specialises in providing steel & aluminium doors, false ceilings and shutters, is already involved with a number of projects locally, but believes there are plenty more to follow over the coming years. “We have been working on a number of projects locally. We are doing the expansion of the Dubai Civil Aviation (DCA) engineering facility and we are working on Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). We are providing ADIA with false ceilings, rolling shutters, steel doors, fire rated sliding doors. The DCA project involves steel doors and rolling shutters,” says Kim D’Silva, sales engineer, RAM Metal Industries. “There is a lot of development in the local market and I think this will continue for the next 10-15 years,” he adds. The company, has just completed an installation with Muraqqabat Police Station where they fitted out the building with a false ceiling and steel doors, has also established strong relationships with a number of local contractors. D’Silva says RAM’s involvement begins at the very earliest stages. “We collaborate with the main contractors right from the tender stage. We understand what they require and then we see this through right to the end of the project. In most cases, our doors are usually installed at the last stage because there is less traffic and most of the other stages have been done. This ensures that there is minimal damage to the doors because they come out with a paint finish from the factories,” explains D’Silva. “We have worked with a large number of contractors, including Arab Tech, ANC and Lootah. These are a few contractors that we are working with on a daily basis and time and again,” he adds. While D’Silva says time constraints are a major factor in many of the projects it is involved with, he also says the market is quite competitive. However, the range and quality of shutters, fire rated doors, non-fire rated doors and false ceilings, that R.A.M provides enables it to garner a share of the local space. “It is a competitive market both in terms of local and international companies, but we have a fair portion of the market. Our service support gives us an edge,” says D’Silva.
