Riyadh TV has chosen a broadcast solution from Omneon Video Networks that includes a server and storage platform for the production, editing, and delivery of its news and entertainment content. Riyadh TV will use three LAN-connected Omneon systems in the facility built by UK-based EML-TI.

"The selection was actually made in 2002 but it's being deployed now," says Geoff Stedman, Omneon vice president, worldwide marketing. "The total system will have more than 100 channels with 60 of them available for real time use."

The solution will be used in conjunction with Royadh TV's existing Liquid Blue nonlinear editing ((NLE) system from Pinnacle Systems. The NLEs will take advantage of Omneon's data-type independence, allowing for editors to finish content in both the 50 bit MPEG format for production and the 25bit format for news.
