Fono has opened a new mobile lifestyle shop at Deira City Centre in Dubai. The shop is situated in the City Gate expansion and will focus on mobile lifestyle products such as digital cameras, notebooks, projectors and PDAs, as well as mobile phones.

“We are really excited by the success so far, and will be moving at full steam ahead to roll out this concept across the GCC,” said Hannu Ruoppa, managing director of Fono Distribution Services.

Digital convergence is key in the emergence of shops offering mobile lifestyle products - a combination of computer and mobile phone shops.

“There is a clear swing towards multimedia-enabled mobiles, with built-in digital cameras and colour screens. Camera phones already make up a third of our revenues and all out top selling models are equipped with new data communications and multimedia technologies such as GPRS and MMS,” continued Ruoppa.

“We’ve been delighted with the response to our new store at the new City Centre ground floor extension, selling over a million dirhams worth of products in the first few days of opening,” he said.
