3Com is continuing to strengthen its portfolio of offerings with agreements and alliances with other vendors. The vendor has now turned its attention to the IP telephony and contact centre space, following an alliance with Aspect Communications.

While its joint venture agreement with Huwaei Technologies is enabling 3Com to enter the high end switching and routing market, its agreement with Aspect will yield a joint solution that combines IP-PBX with contact centre functionalities, such as advanced call routing, multi-channel support and centralised workflow development.

“Leveraging both companies’ respective strengths and rich customers bases, the 3Com/Aspect alliance enables businesses to deploy both world class IP telephony and industry leading enterprise contact centre solutions,” claims Dave Hattey, 3Com vice president & general manager, enterprise voice solutions.

“Enterprises today are under enormous pressure to increase productivity, flexibility and global reach. One of the most cost effective ways to do this is through our standards based voice over internet protocol solution integrated with Aspect’s enterprise class solutions,” he continues.

According to the vendors, the solution, which combines 3Com’s Networked Telephony Solution with Aspect’s Uniphi solution suite, will offer enterprises multiple benefits, including reduced costs of ownership and increased simplicity of installation and use. Furthermore, the joint offering will enhance communications and relationships between remote workers, customers, vendors and partners.
